After their wedding in 1922, Ludwig and Anna Hermann leased the communal inn "Zum Türkentor". Their children, Ludwig, Anna and Elisabeth were born in this building. In 1931, the Hermann family left Purbach and settled in Vienna. However, Purbach was and remained their home, a fact that was affirmed by the purchase of the property.  

The traditional inn was demolished in 1947 and reopened in 1949. From 1962 to 1970 the family ran the inn itself.

The inn was again leased by the family and, in 2007, happily passed on to Mag. Franz Foltin, who reinvigorated the inn’s atmosphere with sophisticated and creative dishes and an international wine culture.  

Ludwig Hermann is still famous to many beyond the boundaries of Purbach for his expression: "Mama, da Kaffee is heit scho wieda vü z'haß". (Which roughly means “Mama, the coffee is much too hot again today”).
